As you get ready for your commercial relocation to a brand new office, you'll be looking for ways to make the whole process go smoothly. Here are some tips you should follow for your upcoming corporate move.
Pair Similar Desks Together
Do you have multiple desks that happen to be identical in size? If so, you can double these desks up so that they take up less space. Start by wrapping the desktop with plastic wrap, then flip one desk over and move it directly on top of the other. You can then secure the desk on top by wrapping them up with more plastic wrap. It will take up less space in the office and the moving truck this way, and protect the desktop surface from becoming scratched.
Label Office Chairs
Chances are that you have quite a few identical office chairs that are being used, with every employee having a chair that is already set to their individual preferences for height and tension support in the backrest. Consider labeling these chairs so that you know who each chair belongs to. It will make sorting them out at your new office much easier.
Box Up Desk Contents and File Cabinets Separately
Don't make the mistake of assuming you can leave the contents inside desks and file cabinets. This will significantly add to the weight of the item, making it much more difficult to move. In addition, you won't know if everything inside makes it to the new office without becoming damaged. Take the time to remove the contents from each desk and file cabinet and label the box accordingly. The last thing you want is for a desk drawer to accidentally slide open, breaking the drawer and having its contents fly everywhere.
Stage Boxes and Items For Movers
If you need to reduce how much time the move takes to complete, you can help by staging as many things as possible near the entrance or service elevator that the movers will be using. Less trips through the entire space to grab a couple boxes can save a significant amount of time.
In addition, make sure you have finished packing everything before your movers arrive. If you are putting things off packing things until the day of the move, realize that you may be underestimating how much time it takes to pack, as well as overestimating how long your movers will take. Having it all completed the day before will help things go smoothly.

After I found out that my employer wanted us to relocate internationally, I was nervous about what it would mean for my family. I wanted things to move smoothly, but I wasn't sure how much of a hassle it would be to pick up and move an entire family. However, I started focusing on making sure things were in order, and before I knew it we were on the open road. It was incredible to see how much of a difference we were able to make, and within no time, things started to move along. This blog is all about moving without the problems, and staying organized with the help of storage.
